Welcome to Caves of Qud, a science fantasy roguelike epic where you'll inhabit an exotic world, chisel through layers of thousand-year-old civilizations, and decide whether it's a dying earth or on the verge of rebirth. You play as a mutant indigenous to the salt-spangled dunes and jungles of Qud, or as a pure-strain descendant from one of the few remaining eco-domes. The journey begins in Joppa, an oasis-hamlet along the far rim of Moghra'yi, the Great Salt Desert, where you'll encounter moisture farmers tending to groves of viridian watervine and huts wrought from rock salt and brinestalk. As you explore procedurally-generated regions, each world is nearly 1 million maps large, allowing for a depth and richness unparalleled in most games. With over 70 mutations and defects, 24 castes and kits, and the ability to hack limbs off monsters or eat through walls with corrosive gas, the possibilities are endless. But don't get too comfortable – Caves of Qud is brutally difficult, and deaths are permanent. Will you rise from the ashes to uncover the secrets of this dying earth, or will you succumb to its treacherous landscapes? The choice is yours in this deeply simulated, biologically diverse, richly cultured world.
